Until recently, my faith in the criminal system, particularly the judicial system, was unwavering. But what some members of the prosecution team did nearly destroyed my faith. Their conduct had consequences for me that they will never realize and can never be reversed.

Too much of the time, sure; that’s easy to prove. All of the time? Nah; ditto. How much? I really wish I knew.

The solution: get rid of sovereign impunity. Let governments and their agents be financially liable for the harm they do.

And who is going to want to do those jobs without sovereign immunity?

I agree with you Michael, but if you ask me sovereign immunity is way too vast. Seems to me that the equation needs to be rebalanced.

Mark, I am just thankful you have taken up the banner of Ted Stevens. This man has been wrongly maligned by overzealous prosecutors who are just jealous because he got such a good deal on home renovations. Aside from Al Gore, no one else has done more to invent and advance the internet. I am so glad that you recognize this!

In an alternate narrative, a corrupt politician walks because of corrupt prosecutors. What’s not to like about that story?
